Stock giving was built for big institutions. We built it for everyone else.
In 2011, a nonprofit that wanted to accept a stock gift needed a brokerage account, someone who understood securities transfers, and the patience to shepherd every gift through by hand. Large institutions had staff for that. Everyone else asked the donor to write a check, and watched their largest potential gifts walk away.
We built Stock Donator to remove those barriers: no brokerage account, no specialist on staff, no setup cost. From the moment a nonprofit opens its free account to the moment the donor's receipt goes out, we handle everything in between.
There was no playbook for making stock giving simple, so we wrote ours gift by gift. It is still the whole company today: one kind of gift, handled completely, for community charities and national foundations alike.
